Landscape + Addition

Here are some photos of a recent project in Springbank, west of Calgary.  This project included a comprehensive redesign of the home, and landscaping.  The result was a 3 phase approach, beginning with this first phase. Highlights include new concrete deck areas (1500 sq.ft. total), an integrated jacuzzi, outdoor kitchen, outdoor fireplace, and plenty of seating for summertime entertaining! A bonus feature of this project is the addition of 1000 square feet of heated space below the structural slab - expanding the already spacious walkout basement!

Mountain Residence

We are currently working on this BC residence in the Kootenay region and wanted to share our progress with you.  Sited on a steep hill, with fantastic lake views, the clients desired a west facade that would open up those great views to the interior!

De Winton excavation underway

Excavation has begun in preparation for the footings and first courses of Nudura ICF forms!  This home will be exceptionally energy efficient as both the foundation and main floor will be built with insulated concrete forms (ICF).  If you are unfamiliar with ICF and it's benefits, you can visit www.nudura.com for more information.

In addition to the benefits of ICF, this home is also utilizing triple-pane glazing, in-floor slab heating and geothermal heating for a comprehensive energy strategy!

Sitting on a parcel of 10 acres, the geothermal system will be using horizontal lines at a depth of 9 feet.  This is an alternative to vertical holes that must be drilled to great depths when working on much smaller parcels. 

Concept massing for new modernist home

Design has begun on a new modernist home in Calgary.  These are early concept massing images - stay tuned as the design evolves!

Sited on an eastern facing promontory, the design will take advantage of exceptional views.  In addition, passive design strategies to maximize solar gain in winter, and shelter in the summer are also priorities.
